Just read Deathly Hallows. I really hate all the fuss going around that book, but I am a fan since the first book, so I just had to read it. Again, I really don't like all the things that go with the last Potter installment: book leak, the merchandise, hysteria, films, action figures and even (plastic surgerised?) J.K.Rowling.
-Spoilers ahead-
(but everybody who cares know everything about the book anyway)
But still, HP books are like no others, and I loved this one. A good way to end the series, I think. Far from being perfect, but still, much better than 5th and 6th, which had no plot at all. Really, am I the only one who can't find a plot inside that huge 5th book? The only thing that was really important was Sirius' death. The 6th was better, but without a good plot.
Now, we have something better in the book 7, but maybe too much stuff for one book. What I'm saying is, some of the stuff could fit into book 5 and 6. That way, 1)Those books could have more of a plot and 2)Some things would fit better into the book 7 (Snitch and flesh memory, the stone, the ring or similar stuff).
But in any case, book 7 was good. I loved the tale of three brothers, I loved Dumbledore's story, I loved Snape's story. Hey, I love Snape, I've always loved him, he's my favourite character. Too bad we didn't see much of him in the book. I loved Hogwarts battles, and the part when Harry's facing his destiny.
I didn't like the fact that there were waaay much things for one book, especially things that were not mentioned before (and should have been), and somewhat slow and empty parts of Horcrux search. The most awaited moment, Ron and Herimoine's kiss was just placed in a stupid moment. There were more appropriate moments for it (in the woods, for example). Harry is a horcrux thing didn't seem as important as I thought it would be (perhaps because so many of us guessed it?) Also, I wanted Harry and Snape to meet again (King's Cross perhaps), but maybe it's because I wanted more Snape anyway. I didn't like the fact that there wasn't much of Hogwarts- I love Hogwarts and there's no HP story without it. Epilogue was ripped from a fan fiction, I'm telling ya.
But, in overall, good HP book, one of the best. Not perfect, but, a good one.
What I got right:
-Snape being a good guy
-Harry is a horcrux
-Couples (but it was obvious, I wanted Harry to be with Luna, but Rowling didn't)
-Snape's death :(
-Death of a Weasley (but I didn't get the right one) and Lupin
-Harry will communicate with Dumbledore and his parents
-Neville Herbology teacher
What I didn't expect, but was good:
-Dumbledore's past
-Hallows
-Each horcrux destroyed by another person
-Dudely remorse
What I didn't expect, but was bad:
-FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!! :(
-Hedwig!!!
-Tonks
-Tooo many things for one book
-Lots of loose ends
-Crappy epilogue
